Interested in joining? We would love to welcome you into our community of rockhounds, lapidary enthusiasts, and adventurers!
We require all new members to join in person at a club meeting. This allows us to welcome you properly, answer any questions, and get you set up with everything you need to start enjoying your membership.
To join, simply attend any of our bi-monthly club meetings and arrive by 6:45 PM so we have time to complete your enrollment before the meeting begins at 7:00 PM.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Meetings are held in the basement of Gresham United Methodist Church: 620 NW 8th St., Gresham, OR.

Volunteering Requirement
Mt. Hood Rock Club is 100% volunteer-run, and everything we offer—field trips, the lapidary shop, our annual show, and more—exists because of the efforts of our amazing members.
We encourage all members to get involved in a way that feels right for them. Whether it’s helping at an event, assisting with club operations, sharing skills, or simply showing up and participating, every contribution makes a difference. Volunteering is also one of the best ways to meet fellow rockhounds, learn new skills, and get the most out of your membership.
We deeply appreciate all levels of involvement, and we recognize that everyone has different abilities and availability. Whether you can lend a hand once a year or take on a bigger role, your participation helps keep our club thriving, and we are grateful for every member for contributing in their own way.
Not sure where to start? We’d love to help you find a way to connect that fits your interests and schedule!
Why Join?
Membership includes access to club field trips, the lapidary shop, free admission to the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals, discounts on supplies, and a welcoming community of rockhounds eager to share knowledge and adventures. For a complete list of member perks, check out ourMember Benefits.
Are there circumstances where the in-person requirement to join can be waived?
No. In accordance with our bylaws, attending a meeting in person is required to become a member, and we are unable to make any exceptions.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, it’s vital that our members are not only excited about club perks but also willing and able to participate in the community that’s working hard to make them available. The in-person requirement helps ensure that new members are close enough to participate in the club actively, take part in volunteer opportunities (required at least once annually for adult members), and join with a genuine interest in being part of the club, rather than just using its benefits.
Our volunteer-run membership team works extraordinarily hard to support a growing community, and while we understand that some prospective members may have compelling reasons for requesting an exception, we don’t have the capacity to manage individual accommodations.
For family memberships, only one adult needs to attend in person to get everyone signed up.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
